AREAS AFFECTED: Burnett; Washburn; Sawyer
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 1 and 3 inches and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations around two tenths of an inch possible. * WHERE...Burnett, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the St. Croix Band in Burnett County and the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation. * WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 1 AM Thursday to 1 AM CDT Friday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The majority of the snowfall is expected to fall during the daytime hours. With the high sun angle and temperatures hovering just above freezing, snowfall will have a difficult time accumulating on warm surfaces leading to a slushy mess.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
