Flood Advisory issued February 10 at 11:24PM PST until February 11 at 1:00AM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA

AREAS AFFECTED: Los Angeles, CA; Ventura, CA

DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following counties, Los Angeles and Ventura. * WHEN...Until 100 AM PST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1119 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain falling across the advisory area. Rainfall rates between 0.25 and 0.50 inch per hour with local rates up to around 0.75 inch per hour have been observed with this line. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Law enforcement and public reports indicates a large amount of roadway flooding on Interstate 5 between Santa Clarita and the Kern County line. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Santa Clarita, Granada Hills, Sylmar, Lake Piru, Castaic Lake, Piru, Pyramid Lake, Interstate 5 over the Grapevine, and Highway 138 between Quail Lake and the Canyon and King burn scars. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Cirrocumulus Clouds Next Topic: Cirrostratus Clouds

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km) and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as "cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.

Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud formations generally pass rapidly.
