AREAS AFFECTED: Jackson
DESCRIPTION: At 653 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles northeast of Jackson to 9 miles southwest of Vandercook Lake. Movement was east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Jackson... Brooklyn... Grass Lake... Vandercook Lake... Leoni... Spring Arbor... Napoleon... Norvell... Horton... Hanover... Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
