AREAS AFFECTED: Tooele and Rush Valleys; Eastern Box Elder County; Northern Wasatch Front; Salt Lake Valley; Utah Valley; San Rafael Swell; Western Canyonlands
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures. Along the Wasatch Front, Tooele Valley, San Rafael Swell, and Western Canyonlands, temperatures will drop into the mid 20s to low 30s both Friday and Saturday mornings. In the Rush Valley, temperatures will drop into the mid teens. * WHERE...The Wasatch Front, Tooele and Rush Valleys, San Rafael Swell, and Western Canyonlands. * WHEN...For the first Freeze Warning, until 9 AM MDT Friday. For the second Freeze Warning, from 8 PM Friday to 9 AM MDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
INSTRUCTION: Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Drain in-ground sprinkler systems and cover above ground pipes.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.
Rain generally has a tendency to fall with less intensity over a greater period

depending on the season and regional influences. Cities have been shown to have
an observable effect on rainfall, due to an effect called the urban heat island.
Compared to upwind, monthly rainfall between twenty and forty miles downwind of
cities is 30% greater.
