AREAS AFFECTED: St Lawrence Island
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 65 mph. * WHERE...St Lawrence Island. * WHEN...Until 3 AM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel may be very difficult. Areas of blowing and falling snow could significantly reduce visibility to 1/4 mile or less at times. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northeasterly winds strengthen Tuesday morning ahead of snow building in Tuesday evening and overnight. Winds shift northerly and strengthen Tuesday night into Wednesday before weakening Wednesday evening. The worst conditions are expected at Gambell overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
INSTRUCTION: Travel should be restricted to emergencies only.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
